Slower Than Some
LET’S GO COUNTRY ALL THE TIME
I grew up a 1960s rock & roller. But somewhere in the 1970s things started changing for me. I began to notice and appreciate how some of the best rock bands were beginning to flavor their songs with some country music influences. Bands like The Eagles, CSNY, CCR, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Pure Prairie League, etc. Then I discovered some of the great classic country artists and songwriters, like Willie Nelson, Kristofferson, Haggard, Cash, and on and on. Then the 90’s country music boom hit, and I was amazed by it! I so appreciated how the lyrics were more important in country music vs. rock & roll. How I would find myself really listening to how the songwriter told the story of the songs instead of just grooving to the beat. ( But if you’re a rocker, believe me, you’ll find plenty of that in country music too!) This “Slower Than Some” album reflects my love and appreciation of the country genre. You’ll find some classic country songs here, but also some with a 90s feel and even a touch of modern-day country. If you’re a country music fan already then I’m sure you’ll love it. And if you’re not, trust your instincts and maybe give it a try. Like me, so many years ago, you may be surprised at what you discover.
